Eye of the storm - Setting the scene

Well.... first real blog entry right here. Now arrived in Mumbai after a rapid tour of the north so I will start at the beginning and work my way forwards.

I will start by introducing the main characters in the travelling experience. Dan 'the situation' Rosson is a jovial chap and a secret academic with an abundance of self esteem coupled with a complete lack of inhibition. We forged our friendship in the fire of failed, long term, relationships and are totally bad influences on each-other.
Tony 'Japeto' Wicks is quite the enigma and a relatively new friend met through Dan. Over the couple months that I have been back from Afghanistan we have shared a few drunken bonding sessions resulting in equally interesting hangover mong out sessions. It is during these sessions we came to realise we share a thirst for perspective in life despite us coming from very different locations in it.

Back in the UK I was having a torrid time of getting a VISA for India. Me, Dan and Tony all applied at the same time, but mine was rejected. Apparently I did not divulge enough information about where I would be staying. Oddly Dan's and Tony's were accepted which lead me to the belief that having a military background was causing me issues.

As a result I missed the first flight and had to meet up with the guys in Delhi a week later. There was a cost of £175 for this because the first flight on the Round The World ticket was the only one that could not be rearranged.

The night before leaving my good friend Ceri insisted on going out for a drink. This turned into me arriving back at his house at 4am and a mad rush to get my bus to Heathrow before going onto New Delhi. The flight was not so bad, slept through the coach trip and arrived in Delhi fresh and rejuvenated.
